Informal Practice
Several times throughout the day, imagine you can take your foot off the proverbial gas pedal and slow things down. You don't have to come to a complete stop, but reduce your speed enough to bring you into the present. Here are a couple ideas:
- Lower your coffee cup at half the speed you normally would.
- Pay attention to each word as you read, rather than skimming.
- Take a breath before answering a question.
- Single-task instead of multi-task.
- Stroll instead of power walk.
- Slow down your yoga or stretching routine.
