Getting To Know Yourself Better
In this module you learned about the five common distractions that lure us away from present moment awareness. They are not unique to grief but show up throughout our life, and they are experienced on and off the meditation cushion. You may not encounter all five of them all the time, but there may be one in particular that shows up more often than the others.
This writing prompt will invite you to explore the physical manifestations of the hindrance and how it affects your relationship with yourself, your grief, and other people.
Which of the Five Mental Hindrances do you encounter most often in your meditation practice? In your life?
Sensual desire and greed
Aversion and ill will
Sloth and torpor
Restlessness and remorse
Skeptical doubt
Pick one for this practice, and use it in the exercise below.
