Acceptance in the context of mindfulness means that even when the unthinkable happens, we honor ourselves and our experiences with dignity and kindness. Rather than turn your back on your suffering, treat yourself as you would a beloved friend. Take the time to pay attention to the physical sensations, thoughts, and feelings that accompany your pain.
This meditation gives you the time and space to tend to what hurts. You will introduce the part of you that hurts to the part of you that cares, and you will receive the comfort you need from the one person you can count on — yourself.
This practice is inspired by page 51 in the guided journal, From Grief to Peace.
